Grayson, Mia, and Drake sit around their nighttime campfire and discuss their future plans.
[The Admin Chickens intro plays] [Intro with music "The Last of Humanity" playing over an aerial shot flying over Drake, Grayson, and Mia around a campfire, then settling on Armen turning to face the camera] [Smoke fills the scene] [The Haunted title card] | |
Mia | Heh. Good thing we didn't stop at that empire camp that we passed through on the way here. |
---|---|
Grayson | [Throws logs on the fire] |
Drake | I agree. That wouldn't have ended well. |
Mia | Noo, it's a bit too close to the Red Keep for um, my comfort zone. |
Drake | Yeah |
Grayson | It's too dangerous. |
Drake | Uh... [Looks around in the dark] |
Mia | From what you guys told me about it, it doesn't seem like that great a place. |
Drake | I'm hoping with this fog they won't see us. |
Grayson | So uh, Mia- |
Mia | I doubt they will. |
Grayson | Are you gonna stay with us long? Or... |
Mia | Uhh... Well I kinda lost my entire archaeological crew during the attack on the Red Keep, so... |
Drake | Oh my God. |
Mia | I really have nothing else to do. I was just... waiting at that inn hoping something would come by. |
Grayson | Um, I guess if you're coming with us, we should- |
Drake | Probably tell you what we're up to. |
Grayson | I don't know, get to know you more. Yeah. |
Mia | Yeah, I know jack squat about you two. |
Grayson | One thing is you're probably not gonna come with us after we tell you what we're doing. What we're pretty much facing. |
Mia | What are you doing? |
Drake | Well- |
Mia | You guys have sort of been, um... |
Drake | It's a little complicated- |
Mia | Been mysterious. |
Drake | But maybe- Just- Maybe you should tell us a little bit about yourself? |
Mia | Good complicated or bad complicated? |
Drake | A little bit of both? |
Grayson | I- I- I am very curious about something. |
Mia | Mhm? |
Grayson | Mia? You're an elf, so I'm wondering: how old are you? |
---|---|
Mia | [Laughs] I am... |
Drake | Eugh. That's not always a question you want to ask a girl. |
Grayson | When they can live over several thousand years old, I'm kind of curious. |
Drake | What!? |
Mia | I am 127. I know what you're thinking, I am really young. For my looks. |
Grayson | Awesome. |
Drake | Yeah. That's just what I was thinking... Yeah... |
Mia | My sister's like... 500-something. I don't even pay attention. |
Drake | Geez. That- I can't imagine what that's like, but... Where- where are you from? I'm not really familiar with the elves all that much. |
Mia | Uhh... Well, woods. Forests. Trees. Sort of our thing. |
Drake | Oh, elves are very nature-y? |
Mia | We're very nature-y. |
Drake | [Laughs] |
Mia | We're very in-tune with our surroundings. |
Grayson | I have a question. What kingdom do you hail from? What elven kingdom? |
Mia | Uhh... |
Grayson | 'Cause I know there's one that way. It's a beautiful place. Trees everywhere, massive treehouses- |
Mia | Yeah. |
Drake | Are there even elven kingdoms? |
Grayson | Yes. Marvelous. |
Mia | There are um, several. I just... haven't been to any of them in a while. |
Drake | Ah. Did you grow up in any of the kingdoms? |
Mia | Uh yeah, I did. Been a while since I've been there. Never was actually able to pronounce the name. Which is ridiculous- |
Drake | Oh. |
Mia | Considering I'm an elf, and I should automatically be able to pronounce all the elvish names? But I can't. It's stupid. |
Drake | [Laughs] Seem to much better grasp on our language than the Elven. |
Grayson | Yeah. |
Mia | I really do. But then again, I've spent a lot of time with your people. Well, growing up. Or, I suppose you're people. |
Drake | Yeah, I guess that works. |
Mia | Yeah, you're both human. You're people. You're people! |
Drake | We're people, we're all people. |
Grayson | Well I'm satisfied with my answers I got, do you have anything to ask? |
Mia | Uh... |
Drake | Hm... I mean, I'm pretty alright, but- alright. Mia? |
Mia | Hm? |
Drake | The truth about what Grayson and I are doing maybe a lot.. darker than you might expect. |
---|---|
Mia | Dude. You're trying to tell me about dark? I spent 30 years in the Eastern Imperial palace, acting like a doll for the Emperor. You're trying to tell me dark? |
Drake | Oh man, I'm sorry. |
Grayson | What about the genocide of thousands? People burning? Entire cities lost? |
Mia | There have been a lot of towns burning as of late. |
Drake | Does the name "Herobrine" ring a bell with you? |
Mia | Actually, a little bit. 'Cause I'm an archaeologist, I've obviously done a lot of reading on history and lore and myths and such of the area- |
Grayson | Oh, soup's done! |
Mia | Oh boy! That's what we needed. |
Drake | Yep. Grayson- [Sighs] It's fine. Sharing our information shouldn't be so bad, it's not like... It's not like he's ever gonna find out through us. |
Mia | You guys found something- |
Drake | Grayson and I, we've been on a quest for a while now. We've been trying to hunt down Herobrine. |
Mia | He's a myth. You can't hunt down a myth. |
Grayson | No, he's not a myth. |
Drake | Yeah, I'm afraid that is wrong. |
Grayson | When you watch your friend die with him? It's... |
Drake | [Sighs] |
Mia | When you say your friend, are you... |
Grayson | Our friend Armen. |
Mia | That guy you mentioned earlier. |
Grayson | He sacrificed himself to save us... |
Drake | It's a long st- |
Grayson | But him, Herobrine---whatever you want to call him---is using him as, I guess you could say, a vessel. |
Drake | A lot happened, and it's a really long story, but... Well, I guess I should really start from the beginning, huh? |
Mia | I think you should, you sort of, just... chucked a bunch of information at me there. |
Grayson | I could say my side. If you want to hear me. |
Drake | Well- |
Mia | Lets- Let's take turns. |
Drake | Alright. |
Mia | You go first. You seem- |
Grayson | Me? |
Mia | Yes. |
Grayson | Well, you were at the Eastern Empire's court, yes? |
---|---|
Mia | Not exactly part of the court, but yes I was there for a time. |
Grayson | I was part of the West. |
Mia | Ohh. |
Grayson | I was respected in Emerald City, I had a wife and son, I was rewarded a beautiful, massive villa to live in. |
Drake | Wow, I didn't realize you had such luxury there. |
Grayson | Well I'm very rich, if you don't remember. Eight Marques is quite a lot. |
Drake | Yeah yeah, you don't have to rub it in my face. |
Mia | [Laughs] |
Grayson | Well Mia obviously knows of the terrible civil war that was going on between the Emperor of the West and the Emperor of the East. |
Mia | Yup. |
Grayson | Self-claimed Emperor of the East, that is. |
Mia | M-hm. Do you know what he did to my people? |
Grayson | When Emerald City fell, it... A month. A month later, that- that's how long me and my family survived there. I hid the most treasured item of Emerald City, which was the dragon egg. That could literally conquer entire continents if it fell into the wrong hands. |
Mia | You're the one who stole the dragon egg? |
Grayson | I took- Yeah. I am. |
Drake | You know of the dragon egg? |
Mia | There was an uproar in the Eastern palace when it disappeared. You would not believe how angry the Emperor was. It was actually... really unsettling to watch. |
Grayson | When I took it, they took my family. |
Mia | Oh my gosh. |
Drake | They found out you were the one who took it? |
Mia | I remember- [Overlapping] |
Grayson | Yes, well- A close friend. A close friend that I served with... |
Drake | He betrayed you? I'm sorry to hear that. |
Grayson | My villa was burned, the armor I got from the Hall of Heroes was gone, I lost everything. |
Mia | I recall when there was a big uproar, they were hunting down whoever had taken it. |
Grayson | When I get my chance- |
Mia | I remember someone coming into the court one day, announcing that they had found the thief. |
Grayson | They never found me. [Scoffs] |
Drake | They probably just said that to put the public to rest. |
Grayson | When I get my chance... I'm going to kill the Emperor. |
Drake | The Emperor is corrupt? |
Mia | He's more than corrupt. |
Grayson | He's a self-claimed emperor. He has slaves, thousands of them. |
Drake | That's horrible. |
Mia | You know what he did to my people? |
Drake | I don't. I don't know much about the elves. |
Grayson | I do. |
Mia | He marched into my kingdom. Demanded our allegiance. And to make sure that we all behaved nicely and acted pretty and would come raid places with him when he demanded it, he captured at least four of us and made us just sit there and look pretty in his kingdom. And we just sat there, and he was like- Ugh!! |
Drake | Wait, you just sat there? |
Mia | No, he would sit us at the bottom of his throne, and we'd just be sitting there as if we were like... trophies, like "Hey, look what I found! I'm the great Emperor, I can control the Elves!" |
Drake | That's horrible, treating people as trophies. |
Mia | Well I was very happy when I got out. A good friend of mine helped me. I owe her a lot. |
Drake | It's always nice to have people like that. |
Grayson | Well, I told my side, Mia told hers... I bet she's wondering about you. |
---|---|
Drake | I suppose it is my turn then. |
Mia | I'm curious! |
Grayson | And to be honest? I'm curious about you too, since I don't know that much about you. |
Drake | I see. |
Mia | Wait, you two are really good friends but you don't know much about each other? |
Drake | I've never taken much time to explain my past. |
Grayson | Splitting up four years ago kind of does that. |
Mia | Huh. |
Drake | Well, I guess I'll start at the beginning, then. It all started about... well, four or five years ago now, I'm not a hundred percent sure about how long it's been, but... It was me and Armen. We uh, we found a house, paid- I can't even remember now, maybe three or six diamonds for it? It was a very worn-down place, but we liked it. It was nice. |
Mia | Homey? |
Drake | Yeah, it was. In fact, I don't think it's that far from us anymore. |
Mia | Oh! |
Grayson | Opposite direction, that way. Maybe 20, 30 miles away? |
Drake | Well anyway... Well, we lived in that house for a couple nights when things started to turn out bad. We were not alone in that house. There was something else there. We uh... soon discovered what the cause was, and... as we told you before, Herobrine is not as mythical as you believe. He lived in that house, that was his resting place, I suppose. |
Mia | Oh. |
Drake | And we woke him up. And... |
Mia | That's not good. |
Grayson | When I met them- |
Drake | We went on a very long journey after that. It was... It's kind of hard to remember in all honesty, but... there was a lot of trouble, there was a lot of adventure, it was fun. But in the end, we were separated. We got put into Herobrine's dream world. We... we struggled to escape. And that's where we met you, Grayson. In the Arctic Base. |
Grayson | Yeah. |
Drake | Then once we met you, we... tried to stop Herobrine, but, in the end... Armen sacrificed himself and I'm afraid that might not even have been enough. Now it seems that Herobrine has taken over Armen. And... |
Mia | Is he using your friend as a... |
Grayson | Vessel. |
Mia | A vessel, yeah. Oh... |
Grayson | A puppet. |
Drake | What happened was Armen, at the final battle with Herobrine, tackled him into the lava with an enchanted sword that could potentially take him down forever. |
Grayson | Like that did anything. |
Drake | I- I think it might have, actually. But, it led to Herobrine's choice. |
Mia | It might have had the opposite effect. |
Grayson | Armen is now a vessel. With no will. |
Drake | Herobrine's body was destroyed by that enchanted blade. But Herobrine I guess was more powerful than we ever expected, and used Armen's body in place of his destroyed one. |
Mia | Do you know how they explained Herobrine? |
Grayson | We've both seen. We've both seen what Armen looks like now. He's started to look more and more like him. |
Mia | Hm? |
Grayson | You know this, Drake. |
Drake | Yeah, I know. |
Grayson | His eye is... white, he's... |
Drake | Yeah, my eye's white too now. What happened was: a little while ago---Well, more than a little while ago, a year or two ago---I managed to trap Armen. Or, well- Herobrine, I suppose, since he had no control. And I trapped him under a very, very heavy spell. Lots of enchantments around it, it was at my home. And I tried to do a very, very dangerous spell that I will never again attempt unless I have much, much better protection. And it took some of Herobrine's control and will off of him, but the spell requires that another living being take what's taken away from him, and I was the only one that could handle it without the spell going haywire, so... I took as much as I could out and put it onto myself. And I'm afraid that's where we are now. |
Mia | That is very gutsy. |
Drake | Yeah, well... I'm afraid it might not have done as much as I liked. 'Cause it looks like Armen doesn't have as much control as I thought he would. But from what I can see, I've at least freed him a little, and... I guess that's good enough for now. |
Mia | Perhaps if we could find some of the old tombs or... some of the old scripts, perhaps we could find out more about Herobrine, perhaps. |
Grayson | Mia. |
---|---|
Mia | Hm? |
Grayson | I need to tell Drake something. Drake? |
Mia | Oh? |
Drake | What is it? |
Mia | Is this a guy talk? [Giggles] |
Grayson | I didn't want to tell you this because I thought it might... distract you or worry you. |
Drake | Well, what's the matter? |
Grayson | You remember the night that I brought you to the house? |
Drake | Yeah. |
Grayson | How you had an arrow in your leg that had poison on it? |
Drake | Of course, it's hard to forget, it just happened- |
Grayson | You almost killed me. |
Drake | What? |
Mia | Excuse me? |
Grayson | Your ender side, its eye, it glowed white- or purple, I- I don't even remember, it just... When I woke up, you were standing over me with a sword drawn and ready to come down onto me. |
Drake | My God, you should have told me! |
Grayson | Why? I didn't want to distract you from the hard task ahead. |
Drake | This isn't good. I was progressing much faster than I expected. |
Mia | What exactly do you mean by that? |
Drake | [Sighs] When I transferred over Herobrine's control onto me, I... I believe I transferred some of his will onto me. I think I might have separated Herobrine into two different entities. Most of Herobrine controlling Armen. But... a small amount I believe may starting to be taking- It might start being taking control of me. |
Mia | You do realize how bad that is, correct? |
Drake | I'm afraid so. |
Mia | We can't- |
Drake | I didn't realize it was progressing like this. |
Mia | We can't allow it to take over. We cannot. By any means |
Drake | It had just stayed to headaches, and... and I thought everything was going to be fine, but... this, Grayson, I- I'm not sure what to think. |
Grayson | I think what we need to get rid of, Drake---If we can---is what looks like... Herobrine's side of you. |
Mia | We can't have- We cannot risk two Herobrines running around. I wasn't even aware he existed until about five minutes ago, and I'm already aware of the havoc and the chaos he has wreaked upon this land. |
Grayson | 'Cause Drake? |
Drake | Yeah. Now those stories you hear of- |
Grayson | I think every time you get a headache- Every time you get a headache, I think it gets stronger. |
Drake | I think you might be right, I think it's a feeling of progression. I'm not sure how much it will entirely be able to take over since it's just a small portion, but... I suppose with enough time, |
Grayson | Maybe it's growing. |
Drake | It could grow even more than I could ever imagine. [Sighs] |
Grayson | Maybe it's growing. |
Mia | We need to get rid of it. |
Drake | I can't say I feel very great after hearing that, but it's good to know. Now we can work with that. |
Grayson | [Groans] It's getting late, I think we should head to bed. We have a long journey tomorrow. |
---|---|
Mia | Uh, I do have a question, though. |
Drake | What is it? |
Mia | Um, Grayson? |
Grayson | Yes? |
Mia | When we had just reached the uh- the river, where the chalice was, you mentioned we were being followed. |
Grayson | I did. |
Mia | Is that the guy who was following us? |
[Both look] | |
Drake | What? |
Mia | In the tree. |
[Armenbrine sits crouched in the tree nearby] [Screen begins to fade to black] | |
Grayson | It can't be. |
Drake | I'm sorry, I don't- |
[Episode ends] |
